Land Transfer

    Regarding the Property bought by Henry Johnson 18-12-1900. This property was bought by Henry Taylor Plews on 4-7-1864 38 acres 2 roods County of Livingstone Parish of Gracemere--Portion 89. for the sum of £117-8-6 d. Commencing on Scrubby Creek at the Northern corner of a measured portion of thirty two acres and three roods number eighty eight and bounded thence on the Northwest by a line bearing --South 49° West eighteen chains and thirty five links on the West by a line bearing South fourteen-- chains on the South by a road one chain and fifty links wide bearing East Eighteen chains and Sixty links on the Southeast by another road one chain and fifty links wide bearing North 26° 30¹ East. Two chains and Ninety links on the East by a line bearing North 6° 30 West. Thirteen chains and ninety links on the East by a line bearing North 15° East Two chains to Scrubby Creek and on the Northeast by that Creek upwards to the Point of Commencement-- Being the land sold as lot 1 in pursuance of the Proclamation of the 10 th May 1864-- Being deed numbered Nine Thousand Four Hundred and Eighty Two. Entered in register book Vol 43 Folio 244.

No 157988 Transmission by Death in consequence of the death of the above named Henry Taylor Plews on the 26 th day of April 1885 his estate in the within land became transmitted to Matilda Plews of said deceased as devised as appears by letters of Administration with copy of will annexed and documentary evidence produced 21 st March 1887 at 3.47 p.m. Entered 6-6-1887.Signed J. O. Bourne Dep. Register of Titles.

No 8267 Lease dated 6-11-1895 Produced 6-12-1895 at 11.7 A.M, Registered 6-12-1895 from Matilda Plews to Henry Somerset Leeke Term 14 years from 1-12-1995. Rental £10 per annum payable half yearly.

Surrendered and endorsed on duplicate. Lease No 08267 produced 14-12-1900 Registered 18-12-1900 J.Mitchell Dep Reg. of Titles.

New Title No 09305a Pursuant to Memo of Transfer No 015911 Produced 14-12-1900 t 10.38 a.m. Reg. 18-12-1900 Henry Johnson Farmer of Rockhampton is now seised of an Estate in Fee Simple in the Who;e of the within land. J.Mitchell Local Dep Reg. of Titles Central Branch.

No c23886 Transmission by Death in consequence of the death of the above Henry Johnson on the 14 th day of January 1907 an estate in fee simple in the within land became transmitted to Ellen Johnson widow, as devisee as appears by Probate Copy of Will and documentary evidence produced 7 th March 1907 at 11.4 A. No 28386 Transfer of 9 ac 0 rd 37 pchs Sub 1 to Ernest Johnson Prod 6 th April 1910 at 3.3 P.M. Vide Vol 103 Folio 72.

23-6-1949 Jim Hickman signed up to buy Harry Elmar Johnsons block of land and the sale took place later in the year of Sub 3. Mr Hickman died and Mrs Hickman stayed on in the house until her death. On her death the property was left jointly to her children so the property was unattended for a great number of years by the family when it was eventually sold 13-9-1993 to Eric Johnson of Gracemere a grandson of the Original owner Henry Johnson.

Harry Elmar Johnson bought the land Sub 2 from Richard Cecil Johnson not sure just when but there is a copy of a deed for September 30 th for Harry Elmar Johnson but cannot read the year. Later deed showing 6 -11-1931 in the name of Harry Elmar Johnson on a deed but particulars are not clear. This was stamped over with No 84167 produced 18-8-1954 at 11.30 registered 11-5-1955.

No 173771 Transmission of Death In consequence of the death of Harry Elmar Johnson 23-11-1953 an estate in fee simple, in the within land has been transmitted to Lily Johnson widow as devisee as appears by office copy of Will and documentary evidence Produced 18-8-1954 at 11.30 a.m. Entered 11 th May 1955.

On the death of Lily Johnson the property was passed on to the bachelor son Herbert Victor Arnold Johnson, who always lived with his mother. The description of the within land is converted to Lot 2 on registered Plan No 601563---- 23-8-1985 B.J.Mc Kenna Deputy Registrar of Titles Central District.

Herbert Victor Arnold Johnson is now registered proprietor in fee simple Transmission by death c500355 produced 27-6-1985 Registered 5 -9-1985 Deputy Register of Titles.

Herbert Johnson passed away on 29-11-1991 in Bundaberg where he had spent the last 7 years of his life with his brother Irwin Johnson. He died from Lymphoma after 11 months of Chemotherapy he passed away in the Bundaberg Base Hospital. His remains were taken to Rockhampton where service was held in his Church of Christ William Street Rockhampton, and thence to the Gracemere Cemetery He was buried at 1 p.m on 3-12-1991.

His Property was handed down to his surviving brothers and sisters. Ken. Reg., Irwin. Beryl and Iris. The property was auctioned by John Brumm & Co Auctioneers on the site 22-5-1992. The property was sold to their cousin Mr Eric Johnson of Gracemere, so he now owns two of the blocks that his grandfather used to own.
