Summary

The heat was intense this year it was the worst summer that I can remember. Mosquitoes were very numerous and bites were plentiful. Nematodes gave me problems in growing my papaws. During the year I continued having health problems and getting attack s such as achy limbs, headaches, tiredness and nervy turns and I couldn t tolerate the heat at all. I missed Herb when he went away with Reg to Brisbane for a fortnight end of February , he returned on 13th March. 12th June Irwin arrived back home from the army. In June Ken and Elsie arrived for a holiday and on the 26th June they visited Charley and Ken put the wireless in place for him. 2nd July Ken and Elsie visited Mount Morgan. 29th July I received a letter from Martha saying that Ted had passe d away. In September I kept pumping the well out and I was short of water for my crops so they did not do very well. I made up a frame for mat making. I continued working for other people and I also started building a cottage for John and Iris at Emu Park. I went often to auction sales and I bought buildings for removal from the army as well as from the gardens. Later in the year I was also looking at land to buy at Emu Park. I improved the cottage during the year I also rented it out as a holiday cottage.
