Summary
This year some of the older children were able to help me with different jobs about the place. Beryl, Herb and Ken were able to help with pulling out grass and weeds etc. Her b and Ken helped planting pineapple suckers, picking beans as well as going to town to help to sell produce. I used to take the boys fishing and rowing in the boat. Sometimes the boys went by themselves in the boat rowing in the creek. I even had the boys making a frame to cart suckers. 14th February Herb went to the college for the first time; he seemed very interested in it. In March I made a float for Irwin so he could fish, Lily didn t like the idea, but I fancy he will catch a fish all right. 18th March Eric came up and told us that the roof had blown off their house last night and that I had to go down and measure up what was wanted to fix it up. We got a go on and Claude worked till 3, by gum it was a smash the big shed came to grief sadl y too. Big beams were carried a couple of hundred yards and iron taken nearly to the swamp 400 yards at least. 3rd April Last night it rained and today the creek is very high. I took Herb and Ken right down and into Charleys paddock and up the lagoon a n d brought the boat up the road into the creek again. 14th April Most of the young uns went down and listened to Claudes wireless. 11th September I saw Patterson about cash for Cecil. 29th September The Bank Manager came out and had a look round and foun d everything very satisfactory so he said. I was glad to have the inspection over. 12th October the pear eggs came and we went over the hill distributing them.
19th October I fancied I saw good signs re Cacto Blastis on the pear. I was ill a lot during the year and found it had to do my work.
1-1--: I caught the train for the Park after dinner I got the doors of the garage hung had a good swim
2-1--: Caught the train for home and had to wait in town and came out with Jack as no train came out our way till 4.30.
3-1--: Herb, Ken and I took pines on account Dick having been round our run. I did not do so well as I should have done.
4-1--: Worked with young Arthur at their well all day.
5-1--: Another day at the well.
6-1--: Took things quietly.
7-1--: Afternoon I worked at the well.
8-1--: We went in with pines. Rossiter sold them at 1/- per dozen just before I got round.
9-1--: I felt off and didnt do much except empty the pan of closet and make a frame for hanging safe door. I then planed a bit of timber and rested till dinner.
10-1-: The boys and I took pines in. We sold them from 1/- per dozen. The town seems to be full of them.
11-1-: I mostly rested during the morning, as my left leg gets quite dopey.
12-1-: I went to town on the bike and got rather wet on the way home. I got quotes for glass and found that Lysaght was over charging me to the extent of at least 50 %.
13-1-: I stayed home and rested. I felt pretty unwell, it was awfully hot.
14-1-: I went up and got a bit from Charley Thorsen and worked at Arthurs well all day. Eric was with me and we got on very well.
15-1-: We went in with pines. My word it was hot.
16-1-: I worked at the well, it was hot and I was fairly knocked up climbing up the well so often.
17-1-: We went in with pines. It was hotter than ever; there must be a big bust up coming.
18-1-: I went down and finished the well also fixed a chair.
19-1-: Picked pines and found the sun had about cut the crop out.
20-1-: It came on to rain. I stayed home and read books I felt pretty tired.
21-1-: Picked a few pines and cleared away timber from the front of the house, nearly loaded the cart for tomorrow. After tea I went up the hill and chopped down a tree.
22-1-: Herb, Ken and I went in and did very well considering how they were burnt by the sun.
23-1-: I went to the city on the bike and bought a roll of remnants at Chisolms and Partners, came home and carried pines down to the shed.
24-1-: Ken, Reg and I took in the pines and sold out very well. A chap from Wowan called and got 21 for 7/-. He wanted more but could not wait for us to pick them.
25-1-: The boys and I hoed pines and rosellas.
26-1-: The boys and I hoes pines. The girls picked pines. I got Arthur 100 suckers.
27-1-: I stayed at home. I felt none too good.
28-1-: I picked pines and mangoes.
29-1-: I went in with the stuff, felt stale without the boys.
30-1-: Didnt do much, felt pretty crook.
1-2--: Usual work.
2-2--: The boys and I worked at the place.
3-2--: Took things easy, it was so hot and I felt crook.
4-2--: Did a bit of work about the place.
5-2--: I took in my last bit of pines and mangoes.
6-2--: I did a little as usual.
7-2--: Carried on with the old job.
8-2--: Took in 2 bags of bone and 18 fowls.
9-2--: The boys and I pulled grass and weeds out from the pines up near Ernies house.
10-2-: I took things quietly and read books etc big storm came across which made things pretty wet.
11-2-: I pulled grass from the Ripley rows, which made my hand very sore. The creek has running water in it from yesterdays storm.
12-2-: I made 2 hoe handles, hoed a bit and pulled grass out from the pines.
13-2-: I had the gang out pulling grass before breakfast. Also for a while after that meal I hoed up near the well and had Beryl pulling weeds from amongst the pines.
14-2-: I cleaned pines; Herby went to college for the first time. I gave him 6d for luck and he got me a paper and lead pencil for himself. He seems very interested in what he has seen.
15-2-: I am quite crook but managed to do a bit more among the pines.
16-2-: I was sick all day. Stuck to the house, nerves and inside crook, it is awful hot weather.
17-2-: I read a book and otherwise took things easy. Arthur and the boys played cricket in front of the house.
18-2-: I hoed amongst the pines and afternoon did a bit of ploughing, it was hot again but we got no storm out of it.
19-2-: Worked a bit about the place.
20-2-: I went to town on the bike and did a bit of business.
21-2-: The weather seems to be steadying down a bit, last night it rained very hard.
23-2-: I took 2 of the youngsters down the creek in the boat and got a duck.
24-2-: I heard that the police had found Fred Fishers body at 4 this morning.
25-1-: Hoed up near Ernies house. Fred Fishers remains were buried at Gracemere cemetery.
26-2-: Worked in the garden.
27-2-: I ploughed grass out.
28-2-: I finished ploughing the land up near the lane gate.
1-3--: It was a holiday from school so the young uns helped me to get grass out of the land.
2-3--: We were on getting grass out. This morning we went fishing very early.
3-3--: It was hot and I stayed at home all the day.
4-3--: I hoed grass amongst the pines. Afternoon it was so hot I could not go out until quite late.
5-3--: I made a frame with the object of making the spading harrows into a sort of implement on their own.
6-3--: I felt the heat so much that I stayed in the shade. I made 2 hoes and fixed a rake etc also got the grindstone going again.
7-3--: Last night was much cooler and I got some rest. Today I hoed amongst the pines, cloudy all day. I made a float for Irwin so he could fish, Lily doesnt like the idea, but I fancy he will catch a fish all right.
8-3--: I hoed pines. The weather has been awful lately and I could not get on with work at all.
9-3--: The children and I pulled grass and disked land. After 4 we were fishing but only Ken caught 1.
10-3-: Went fishing right down the creek as far as Charleys paddock, Cedric Barnes and I got 6 each, Ken 1. Came home for dinner.
11-3-: I started to plough the piece of land over again. Dobbin is awful to work with will not walk properly.
12-3-: Finished ploughing the piece of land I was at.
13-3-: I ploughed amongst the pines near the gate up the lane and cut grass amongst the Ripleys. Also started to undermine the tank stand at back of house, cooler weather is now with us.
14-3-: I cut 4 rows of grass before dinner and did a little to the tank stand job also sharpened a handsaw. The sun is hot although there is a cool breeze.
15-3-: I cut grass amongst pines.
16-3-: I went to town and run round a bit in connection with various bits of business. Called at Tompkins about the account then over to Toms. He and more men were at work fixing the road and he did not get home till after 6.
17-3-: I slept at Toms place and knocked about with him all day left 5.15 for home, called at Strelows and got 6/- off their account. I got home just at dusk.

19-3-: Arthur and I fixed the black smiths shop today and got purloins gathered up also iron. Afternoon we finished the house roof. It was a very tiring time and pretty hot too.
20-3-: Arthur and I spent the day at the roof over the engine, didnt quite get it finished as such a lot of time was lost looking for iron.
21-3-: I went to town collecting money etc.
22-3-: I went down and finished the roof I was at yesterday. I came home at 9.30 and did a bit of work at my place.
23-3-: Worked at my place amongst the pines.
24-3-: I knocked about at home; the boys had the boat in the creek.
25-3-: I ploughed amongst the Ripley pines my word it was tiring as the horse goes all over the place.
26-3-: I went to the city and got 2 cases 2/- each also saw the Industrial Inspector about Tompkins account. Sent a bit of timber to Park.
27-3-: I cut grass amongst pines.
28-3-: I cut grass amongst the orange trees and Ripleys.
29-3-: Tom and I went to Emu Park. It was a splendid day but Tom wouldnt go in for a bathe so I took him for a long walk, he became very hungry and I was eager to get back to the house.
30-3-: Last night an awful wind came up and blew all night. We made a start this morning at the job I wanted doing. It was cold working out in the wind. We just got it ready for the light to go in.
31-3-: Tom would have not go out fishing in the creek. We did no good but we were over new country. Came across a clump of about 100 mango trees and an old jetty. Some time there has been some boating done there.
1-4--: I got the fan light in and the job finished. Also did a few necessary bits of jobs to the garage. I then fixed the steps and made a good job of them. We had a bathe and I did a thing for Pocock that I had promised. Had tea went out to Colls and stayed till after 12, went back to the house and had a little camp
2-4--: We got up early and had breakfast and caught the train for home. I had to stay in town all day, as there was no train out our way. I waited at the shop and Arthur brought me home in the car.
3-4--: Last night it rained and today the creek is very high. I took Herb and Ken down the creek in the boat and we went right down and into Charleys paddock and up the lagoon and brought the boat up the road into the creek again.
4-4--: We pulled grass out of the pines and weeds out of the fowl run. Afternoon I picked 600 suckers and the 2 biggest boys carried some of them up to where I intend to plant them.
5-4---: I dug over land with the vine hoe. Herb and Ken planted 300 suckers. My word we were all tired by nighttime.
6-4--: I sledded suckers up the hill and picked 300 more. I have now picked 900 and we have planted them all but about 50.
7-4--: The 2 boys went up to the station to catch the train to town. I rode the bike and got tickets for us 3 to go to the Park. The railway band was there so we had a nice lot of music also a bathe. The boys then caught the train for home and I went and had supper and went to town.
8-4--: I just ate 2 buns and butter and had a drink of cold cocoa and went out to Colls I stayed there till 3. Colls, Olly and I went out on the r ocks and got 10 crabs and 2 cod. Got 2 1/2 lb cod and a 11/2 lb just by hand under the rocks. Olly and I then went and had a bathe and worked at my place.
9-4--: I was up very early and had breakfast and Fred Thwaite brought me 2 crabs. I got a salmon 21/2lb off him for 1/1d crabs 1/6d for 2. I owe him 2/6d. I caught the train for home. Billy Shaw gave me a lift right to my gate.
10-4-: I took in a few pines and got good prices for them.
11-4-: I did some hoeing and digging also ploughed.
12-4-: I ploughed a bit and picked 300 suckers.
13-4-: Ploughed and sledded the suckers and planted them worked right up till night and was very tired.
14-4-: I felt tired all day. Most of the young uns went down and listened to Claudes wireless last night.
15-4-: I worked at the pines also ploughed.
16-4-: Cut grass between the pines with the reaping hook.
17-4-: Cut more grass.
18-4-: I picked suckers etc.
19-4-: Took in a few pines.
20-4-: Mepstead paid the balance owing on their well job. My gang and I planted pines.
21-4-: It rained a little during the day, kept me home.
22-4-: I went to town and did various bits of business saw Solicitor Patterson about Tompkins account, also saw about the Park allotments and interviewed the bank manager.
23-4-: Arthur took Patterson and more of us to Yeppoon for the day. We dragged and dragged the net and got very few fish, it made us very tired.
24-4-: I went to Radcliffes and was told that Dave would not have the job done. I waited until dinner and he came home and agreed to let it be done, so we got to it.
25-4-: Yesterday afternoon a great storm came over, Rockhampton and us got a fair portion of it. I went in on the bike,
26-4-: I worked at Radcliffes again. Got on fairly well.
27-4-: Put in the day at the job. Got the joists on and layed the boards loosely on.
28-4-: I went down and saw Arthur and had a yarn about various things.
29-4-: Went in and put in another day at the job.
30-4-: Took in the stepladder and some pines also got some timber from Skyrings.
1-5--: I got the rafters on etc.
2-5--: Put on the galvanised iron.
3-5--: Worked at the front, put in the sills and supervised the boarding up the front.
4-5--: Put in the day, weatherboarding. I was fairly tired by time I got home.
5-5--: I rode the bike to town and caught the train to Emu Park went straight out to Colls and met Dave Thwaite and paid 2/6d I owed also bought 3/- of fish. He owes me 1/- change I got some tools and caught the train home.
6-5--: I was home all day, dug some soil for Menzies but he failed to turn up. I nearly made a pastry board and had the boys making a frame to cart suckers from Vineys.
7-5--: I went in and put the floor down at Radcliffes. Got it finished except the nosing.
8-5--: I put the nosing in, put up a bench and got the sashes together. I had to go down town for putty etc and got home late.
9-5--: I planed up material for setting the windows and put in the 4 sashes before dinner also cleared up things ready for boarding after dinner, did various jobs.
10-5-: I with Daves help; got on well with the room walls etc I now have the back of the job well broken.
11-5-: I went in and started work at 7.20. Knocked off at 11.20 voted and bought pair of socks came home by car. Paid the chaps off and am well rid of them. I rode the bike back to town after tea and saw the numbers go up. Labour is well down for dead as mutton. It was midnight when I left to go home after a feed of ham and eggs.
12-5-: I went up and saw Charley Thorsen about a price for Swales job.
13-5-: I took in 2/ - of pines, went and worked all day at the job came home pretty tired. It was rather warm today and storms went round.
14-5-: I cut out rafters for the back part of the house. Afternoon Dave helped me to put them up also the purloins.
15-5-: I put in the valley and soldered it also put on the iron. I worked about 11 hours. Came home pretty tired.
16-5-: I put the studs up to the rafters at the back of the house also put outlets and ends to the valley, ordered a lot more timber.
17-5-: With the help of the 2 women I took out a wall and renewed it by 5.30.
18-5-: I rode the bike to Mount Morgan attending Mallors sale and inspected Swales house and rode by the Mt Usher road. My word it was a ride all right.
19-5-: I was up by 6 and went to Swales place but he had gone to work. I then went out to Toms and stayed till 4, called back and saw Swales.
20-5-: Went in and worked at Radcliffes, put in a good hard day. I took in 5/- worth of rosellas.
21-5-: I took in 13 pines for 3/-. Worked at the job and managed to get the wall finished.
22-5-: Took in 3/9d worth of pines and worked at the job. Went to Cousins and bought 3 sashes and put in a window after 3 till 4.55, came home tired.
23-5-: I soldered holes in the roof also riveted some holes with lead. After 5 I rode round and paid Crane for the planes I got about a fortnight ago. Quite a cool change has come along.
24-5-: I put in the 2 windows and a lot of other jobs. Also went up town and saw iron sold at Foulkes, it went high for such as it was.
25-5-: I planted 1000 suckers that came from Vineys. Felt tired after my week in town. I humped a lot of pines to town during the week.
26-5-: I went over to Toms and went up the mountain looking for timber but failed to see much that took my fancy.
27-5-: I took in 5/6 worth of rosellas and I went to work. I got on pretty well with the job.
28-5-: I went to work and pretty well finished except the ceiling and lining.
29-5-: I went down and got a plank of mine from Blythe Farm also brought a lock and fixed it in the door for Clara. I then came home and planted suckers and did various other jobs.
30-5-: I went to a sale at Stein and Cullins and bought a lot of doubtful stuff, know how it will turn out.
31-5-: I took in pines etc and sold out well too. Called at Radcliffes and had dinner also fitted a fillet at the corner of the place so that they can go on with the job.
1-6--: I have a bit of an achy feeling like flu or something. I just cleared things out of the workshop a bit. The children got the bolts out and did various other bits of jobs.
2-6--: I went over and saw Cecil and also down to Arthur and heard Claudes wireless.
3-6--: I took the pump jack off the well and had a fire on the hill.
4-6--: I went in and started to ceil the room at Radcliffes. As the timber did not arrive until 10.30 I got a bad start.
5-6--: Carried on with the ceiling. Bought as parcel of remnants from A.C B.
6-6--: I got the rest of the ceiling up. I have been crook all the week so the work went crook.
7-6--: Took in pines etc sold out very well.
8-6--: I rested all day. Had a touch of flu.
9-6--: I spent a quiet day mostly at home.
10-6-: I went in and worked at the job. Half day I am charging for.
11-6-: I went in and put in another day at the work.
12-6-: I put in one more day at Radcliffes lining the front room.
13-6-: I got in another day in at the job at Radcliffes.
14-6-: I was home but did no good, as it was too wet looking to get off with pines.
15-6-: I went to the city pretty early on account of it looking like rai n. I bought a small combination tool for 1/6d also leather for half-soling and a hammer for cobbling. I then went over to Swales, up to 11 talking to Swales. When he went to work and I went to bed.
16-6-: I stayed at Swales till after dinner and came home. We went into the matter of removing his house from the Mount to Kalka and he agrees to give us £90 for labour only on connection of the job.
17-6-: I took in my pines etc and got my tools from Radcliffes, went up and I saw Thorsens about Swales job he agrees the price is right and we arranged to go to the Mount next Monday and start to pull it down.
18-6-: I put blinding in my gateway.
19-6-: I borrowed a ladder from Thorsen and went on pulling the old pipeline to the tank up the hill. I managed to have a buster from the highest part and hurt my back.
20-6-: I dug holes for posts for a trellis for the passion fruit. I also put a handle in one of my saws. I could not get much done on account of a bad back.
21-6-: I started to cut out a frame for a hut round the hill. Also put the posts in for the passion fruit so that Beryl could fill in and ram them.
22-6-: I worked at the room round the hill all day. Got the floor and the roof on.
23-6-: I went down to the Park and back.
24-6-: I rode the bike across and saw Swales also did other bits of things.
25-6-: I worked at the room again.
26-6-: I worked at the room a little also took down the old piping and nearly got the new line laid.
27-6-: I took Ken with me and sold pines. Got home late for dinner.
28-6-: I was doing various jobs about the place. Also a chap I started to work yesterday.
29-6-: I carried on with work about the place, started to plant suckers in new rows below the old ones.
30-6-: Very windy day and I keep pretty close to the house.
1-7--: Carried on with planting suckers and knocking out the suckers on the grassy patch near the shed.
2-7--: I was still at the same job as yesterday also I did a bit of ploughing round at the old place.
3-7--: To end of month I was pretty crook one way or another. I did a bit at home trying to get the engine going in an endeavour to grow something round the old place.
31-7-: I went in on the bike Dave gave me and, did a little at their place with Dave.
1-8--: I cleaned up a bit round the hut pulling out lantana with Dobbin.
2-8--: Carried on with the clearing.
3-9--: I hoed and burnt grass etc. Had to go up and see Mrs Glover about a job.
4-8--: Sunday has come and I feel a bit dopey.
5-8--: Worked at home.
6-8--: Carried on.
7-8-- At home.
8-8--: Took in pines etc.
9-8--: I worked round at the garden also went up and saw Mrs Glover about work she wants done.
10-8-: I was at the engine etc.
11-8-: I stayed at home.
12-8-: I pumped and went to town and did a little at Radcliffes.

15-8-: Worked among pines.

17-8-: Carried on as usual.
18-8-: Took things easy at home.

24-8-: I worked at Glovers. Afternoon I pumped and burned rubbish.
25-8-: I stayed at home. Bob and his gal came up and took away the set of harness.
26-8-: Pumped water etc. Things in connection with our pumping plant are not perfect by any means.
27-8-: I went up to Glovers and fixed the stove, it took till 2. I then came home and took down a tank and stand and did a little to a stove.
28-8-: I worked round the hill where the cedars were, burning the heaps.
29-8-: Carried on as yesterday.
30-8-: I got pretty well all the heaps burned also pumped water.
31-8-: Worked round at the garden. Pumped a good lot of water.
1-9--: In bed all day, cool last night but warm throughout the day.
2-9--: An awful wind came up during the night and when it came to time getting up in the morning things were very raw. I spent the morning hose mending, garden hose. Afternoon I went up to Glovers for my tools and sand.
3-9--: Worked at a tank I am cementing.
4-9--: Worked round the hill.
5-9--: Carried on as usual.
6-9--: As before.
7-9--: Worked with the boys at the garden.
8-9--: I went in to Radcliffes and did a little work for them. I am no good for anything.
9-9--: Pumped etc.
10-9-: Did various little jobs about the home.
11-9-: Went in to the city and took in 8 pines and sold them for 3/-. Saw Patterson about cash for Cecil.
12-9-: I was at home. I am quite off colour these times I have not been any good since my buster.
13-9-: I did another spasm or 2 round the place and came in. I mended my boots afternoon and then lied down until teatime. I seem to have a nervy turn.
14-9-: I dodged about before breakfast, hauled water out of the well and sawed wood, then went round and cemented the tin I pump into, watered tomatoes etc. Afternoon the boys and I sowed bean seed and pumped water.
15-9-: I was crook and stayed home.
16-9-: Worked in the garden.
17-9-: I am out of sorts again, could not get on with much at all.
18-9-: I went round and watered a few things. After breakfast I went across to Cecils but as he was out at Eagle Hill I did not see him. I came home and pumped water and carried on with the garden.
19-9-: I put out tomato plants also bit of sugar cane. The heat these days is rather severe, I feel it very much and then Herb. Ken and Reg are home sick. Lily, Beryl and in fact all our folk are crook more or less.
20-9-: Worked in the garden.
21-9-: Went to town and when I got back I was not fit for work.
22-9-: Stayed at home.
23-9-: Pumped etc, put out tomato plants.
24-9-: I worked at home, went across and saw Cecil too.
25-9-: I worked at the garden. Conditions seem favourable for rain some times through the day, but the nights are too cool for rain.
26-9-: Carried on pretty well as usual. I am not too well yet and cant hurt work much.
27-9-: I pumped and did various jobs about the place.
28-9-: Cecil and I went to town to fix up about his place. Took a lot of time and made us late home for dinner.
29-9-: Bank Manager came out and had a look around and found every thing satisfactory so he said. I was also to have the inspector over. I went across to Cecils with Bob and his girl in the sulky.
30-9-: I worked in amongst the beans etc. It was very warm.
1-10-: I went down and cleaned out the calf pen. Got 5 loads of good stuff too. I also burned the grass near the hay shed, had a good burn too.
2-10-: I managed to get a cold last night knocking out the fire. Felt stiff too. I pumped and got 1 row of pines manured.
3-10-: The boys and I went round and did a bit in the garden before breakfast. It was very hot during midday. I fixed up handbarrows and hauled water for passion fruit.
4-10-: I pumped and watered also got a lot of manure on to the pines. It was a nice cool day.
5-10-: I worked my gang at the manure, got it finished and dug in also hauled 4 drums of water then rested till lunch.
6-10-: I went over to Eagle Hill with Jack and Dick, stayed dinner at Cecils.
7-10-: Worked in the garden, pumping etc.
8-10-: I started to dig rows for pines just near the quarry. It is fairly warm also watered the pines etc.
9-10-: Carried on with the digging.
10-10: Dug more rows also picked Ripley suckers.
11-10: Planted 150 suckers round next the quarry and picked and dressed 500 more also fixed the sled so that the boys can cart the suckers tomorrow.
12-10: I went round to Cecils and got some seeds also voted on my way home, planted suckers and seeds. The pear eggs came and we went over the hill distributing them.
13-10: Jack and Dick came and I sold Dick some reloading tools 3/ -.
14-10: I planted 2 rows of suckers well over 300. Picked and prepared for planting 200 more. It was pretty hot and stormy but cleared up towards evening.
15-10: Went round and made a start at the summerhouse before breakfast. Picked suckers and carted them after tea.
16-10: Planted suckers and worked round in the garden.
17-10: Planted suckers and pumped water etc.
18-10: I planted suckers, felt pretty crook. Mrs Glover brought me 30/-. Afternoon I went up the hill I fancied I saw good signs re Cacto Blastis on the pear.
19-10: We carted the stuff round for the bush house and got the posts up and nailed. We waited for the moon to rise when we went round and nailed the corners.
20-10: I took things easy at home.
21-10: Worked at the summerhouse and pumped water.
22-10: Did a little to the bush house and watered peas etc. We go round and do a little before breakfast to do a little to the shanty.
23-10: I hoed pines the 1100 I planted lately got 3 rows done besides.
24-10: I hoed more pines. I felt crook as evening came on and had to give it best.
25-10: I finished hoeing the lot of pines I was at and cut a piece of tank to set in cement near the fernery. Also put handles in 2 kerosene tins to take sand round in, mended my boot.
26-10: Worked in the garden. Afternoon we went to Eagle Hill fishing but did no good.
27-10: I stayed at home quietly.
28-10: Watered the beans and did other bits of jobs.
29-10: I cemented the tank I am fixing up for the summerhouse.
30-10: I finished the tank and started digging ground above the mangoes trees.
31-10: Hoeing and digging also Ken pumped water.
1-11-: Pretty well finished the fernery and finished digging where we have been the last couple of days.
2-11-: Herby, Ken and I went fishing and took the gun caught 60 fish and I shot 2 ducks with 1 shot. Pretty tired when we got home.
3-11-: I stayed at home during the morning. Afternoon I walked over to Cecils and had a yarn.
4-11-: The boys and I went round and picked 34 lb of beans before breakfast. After that meal I picked another 20 lbs and went on with jobs about the place.
5-11-:\tab I worked in the garden.
6-11-: I am busy at a job of defining a track from the engine to here planting a row of pines on the top side.
7-11-: Carried on. I have been out shooting at night for nil. I picked 63 lbs of beans.
8-11-: I have been at work among the tomatoes, I felt no good today.
8-11-: Carried on.
10-11: Rested.
11-11: Picked beans etc.
12-11: Worked in the garden.
13-11: Planted pines etc.
14-11: Picked the beans and dug place for rosellas.
15-11: I started to plough. It was so awfully hot that I could not get on very well with it.
16-11: Ploughed during the morning, afternoon picked suckers and went after wallabies but saw none.
17-11: Am crook, took things quietly.
18-11: Picked beans and planted long beans also a few sweet spuds.
19-11: Am quite out of sorts, worked a bit amongst the pines.
20-11: I did a bit about the place and went up and saw about Mc Donalds tank. Put the afternoon cleaning it out and getting sand etc.
21-11: Put in the day at Mc Donalds tank.
22-11: Went up and finished the tank also was on the roof of the house seeing to things.
23-11: Planted some pine suckers. Very hot weather prevails just now.
24-11: Took things as quietly as possible.
25-11: I planted pines.
26-11: Cleared stuff out of the road of the plow, planted pines.
27-11: Carried on.
28-11: Ditto.
29-11: Still at it.
30-11: As usual.
1-12-: Lazed at home.
2-12-: Worked in garden.
3-12-: As ever.
4-12-: Worked a little.
5-12-: Too hot.
6-12-: Did a little.
7-12-: Hoed.
8-12-: Rested.
9-12-: Hoed pines.
10-12: Went to town, did a little at Radcliffes.
11-12: Hoed pines.

13-12: Same job.
14-12: Finished hoeing the piece.
15-12: I went out to Eagle Hill with Jack and saw his pines.
16-12: Worked mostly at the steps, hoed a bit too.
17-12: Hoed again and other jobs as fixing chairs.
18-12: Did a little to the steps and fixed chairs etc for Clara. By gum it is hot weather awful.
19-12: Worked about the place.
20-12: Similar.
21-12: Hoed.
22-12: Lazed about.
23-12: Dug some ground for pines.
24-12: Fixed the verandah floor at Arthurs and dug amongst the pines.
