Johnson's: Boongary

We lived at Boongary Road west of Gracemere and close to the old railway line to Mt Morgan. We could see Table Mtn from our place and Kabra was the way we had to go through if we were flooded out by the creek that ran near our property and across our way to get to Gracemere. We were 4 and a bit miles south westish towards Mt Morgan from Gracemere.

The new property, L45-58, was obviously given to dad (Sydney King Johnson) before Charles (Charles Thomas Johnson, Elmar's brother) died because it isn't mentioned in the will.

Refering to the photo topo map - (Its) A bit hard to see the house but the old house was well back off the road and looks like it is the 3 tiny white bits above the G of Gracemere Creek with the yellow road leading to Halfpenny Lane. The house that was built in 1968 is on the Boongary Road under the RO of Boongary Road. The little white spot is the water supply tank from the creek near the 46 (spot height).

We never did have that Halfpenny Lane when I was there and the road to the house used to wind down from Boongary Rd - times have changed.

Our nearest neighbour was 1 and half miles away towards Gracemere. That property along Johnson Rd is Arthur Marrison Johnson families which ajoined us from where we crossed the creek to come along Johnson Rd - It was only ever called Boongary rd all the way along but AM Johnson had something to do with the council I think and got his bit called Johnson Rd. AM J has 4 sons with property along Johnson Rd.

My brother Philip still has some of the property. It was devided between him and his ex wife as Philip bought it off Dad. He has some on either side of Fay as it had to be devided up so that the creek ran through all the properties on settlement. The house was in the middle!! Philip has 45 & 51 and 57 & 58 and Fay some in between.

    Dad sold a bit earlier.
